Swallowfield Local History Society

August

Welcome to the August 2019 News Letter

As the History Society moves into the summer recess, the work behind the scenes builds apace, The preparations for our exhibition at the Horticultural Show are being finalised – an enormous piece of work but it’s so good to spark interest in the history of the local villages of Swallowfield, Riseley & Farley Hill.

We, therefore, will not be having a meeting in August. We look forward to starting our planned programme of speakers at the September meeting when there will be a talk given by Thomas Macey on "The Story of Jacksons Iconic Department Store 1875 - 2013.

We have no meetings planned for the summer months. We will be exhibiting again at the Swallowfield Show at the end of August.

Our meetings are usually on the third Thursday of the month in the Rose Room at the Swallowfield Parish Hall. Visitors are always welcome.
