Welcome to the May 2022 News Letter.

We had a very successful meeting on the 22 April. We had a talk given by Mike Cooper entitled The Home Guard in Berkshire. It was an engaging talk on the history of the Home Guard Its roots that can be traced back in history to times of national emergency, to being raised to defend our shores.

How it evolved from groups of people joining together. with what ever weapons' available. To an arm of the services which even had better weapons than the main services. Several members recanted stories told by their relatives of the times they where in the Home Guard.

Our next talk on the 19th May will be given by Richard Gibbs on - History of Wokingham “ A View from the Past”
