Welcome to the July 2018 News Letter
Another piece of history made for the village – congratulations to the Horticultural Society for receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service! We were delighted to realise that our Chairman, Ken Hussey,
was lucky enough to represent the Horticultural Society at the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
As the history society moves into the summer recess, the work behind the scenes builds apace, The preparations for our exhibition at the Horticultural Show are being finalised – an enormous piece of work but
it’s so good to spark interest in the history of the local villages of Swallowfield, Riseley & Farley Hill.
We, therefore, will not be having a meeting in August. We look forward to starting our planned programme of speakers at the September meeting when we will be in conversation with Percy Austin who has many a
tale to tell.
We usually meet on the third Thursday of the month in the Rose Room at Swallowfield Parish Hall.
Visitors are always welcome.
If you have anyqueries, please contact Ken Hussey (Chairman) on 0118 988 3650
or Maggie Uttley (Secretary) on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Visit our website, www.slhsoc.org.uk, for the full programme for the year.
We look forward to seeing you there.
